Client Stories
The following stories provide snap shots of client experiences during healing sessions. These stories speak of journeys, realizations and interior hits that resulted from using the chaliceroot model. The stories are thematically intact but details and names have been changed to honor client confidentiality. Stories have been randomly selected with the intention of sharing what is being explored and realized during sessions. As you will see, each session is unique to the individual, their level of consciousness and what they are working with/on. Generally, healing or change in the quality of life, occurs through the acknowledgment and naming of the presenting complaint or pattern on the conceptual level, tracking and working with the energetic components experientially, and then offering a reframing of the pattern with the new realizations and insights. Homework is encouraged as one way to integrate the new pattern into the person's life experience. It requires mindfulness, willingness and dedication to supporting the new pattern through one's choices and the directing of one's attention. It is one way of manifesting the conceptual into the experiential. It is one way of bringing awareness to unconscious perceptions.
Pretty Princess and her Shadow:
Penny is a young woman in her late twenties. We have worked together, almost every week for eight months. In her last session, Penny came in with a request to work with sexual energies. She had been experiencing ‘feelings of dirtiness' during intercourse and was at a loss of what to do. I began to work with her 1 st and 2 nd chakras. I also began to direct her attention first to her breath, then to feeling her belly and finally to noticing what sensations, feelings and thoughts were arising. As we tracked deeper into her system she got an interior hit that she wasn't connected to her sexuality. Another realization that emerged was she was experiencing her sexuality through a pattern that was transmitted by her parents. Her father was the take charge caregiver while her mother seemed helpless. As Penny continued to journey deeper into her system her understanding unfolded. She realized she had taken her mother's role in her relationships with men. She had stopped being the efficient woman she knew herself to be and became helpless. This also translated into her sexual experience. She became helpless and demanded that her partner take control and be in charge. As we tracked even deeper into her system Penny was able to discover that she experienced pleasure by controlling her partners through her own helplessness. She realized that this was the only way she felt pleasure. I continued to work with Penny's system until she consciously connected and felt the energy flow between her 1 st and 2 nd chakras.
Homework:
I encouraged Penny to support her new pattern by making choices that supported her connection with her sexuality. If a ‘feeling of dirtiness' arose, Penny could now acknowledge it as a choice point. I encouraged her to acknowledge the feeling and then direct her attention into feeling her energy system.
In addition, Penny was given physical grounding exercises as well as music recommendations to facilitate her connections to the earth and deeper vibrations.
The Wounded Inner Child:
Abby and I had been working together intermittently for several years. During one of our phone sessions she discovered her wounded inner child pattern was influencing her perceptions of her current partner. Although she had spent years in counseling and therapy intense feelings of jealousy still continued to arise in relation to her partner. As I guided Abby deeper into her system, she encountered charge and intense feelings of abandonment. As we continued to work Abby realized she was feeling the pain of her parent's separation. Her parents had separated when Abby was four. As we continued to go deeper Abby realized her parents were both in so much pain they couldn't comfort her. I directed Abby to bring her attention to this wound held so deep inside that didn't know how to be comforted. I held space and guided her awareness back to the wound until she could stay present. Abby brought awareness and light into her wounded child. As the session came to a close, I encouraged Abby to set up a two way communication system with her inner child, one that would insure that both her and her inner child were heard and seen.
Homework:
I encouraged Abby to continue to build the bridge of trust with her inner child. One possible way was to notice and pay attention to the moments she began to feel upset and to communicate with her inner child. Then she could direct her awareness inside herself and bring presence to the upset as soon as it began. In this way she could consciously initiate and create a comfort pattern.
In addition, Abby was reminded to do hands on exercises to work with her 2 nd and 4 th chakras.
Vibrational remedies were suggested.
Do Right:
Sally and I had worked together for four years. During this time she had often worked on specific issues relating to her family members. In our last session she wanted to work on her high level of anxiety surrounding her forthcoming family reunion. As we began to dialogue I noticed tightness in her jaw, chest and pelvis area. The energy surrounding her head appeared to compress the left side of her face and ear area. I directed her attention to the pressure and encouraged her to move in any way that felt comfortable. As she began to move I held focused attention and continued to offer guidance and encouragement. As the session unfolded Sally began to realize that she had a tremendous amount of pressure inside her body. The pressure was created in childhood by her not being able to tell anyone about her brother's mistreatment of her and her sisters. Sally couldn't tell anyone nor could she stop her brother. She ‘knew' her brother was in pain so she couldn't get angry at him. Sally continued to release pressure and charge by moving and kicking her legs. As the session came to a close, Sally realized she was mad at God for knowing better. She also realized she would be able to speak out about the pattern of mistreatment at her family reunion. Since she had cleared her personal charge, she felt she could share with her brother her understandings of the pattern. She could also point to the pattern she was seeing repeated between her nephew and nieces. (Sally intuited that her words cleared of their underlying charge had a better chance of conveying her message.)
No Homework:
What I Know I Believe:
Sam was in his early forties and had seen me every couple of months for several years. In this session he was engaged in an inquiry surrounding death and his personal meaning of life. As we settled into the session, I looked into Sam's eyes and noticed tight lower back muscles, held fear in his kidneys, and tight abdominal muscles. I offered my observations to Sam who agreed and wanted to begin by working on his back. I placed my hands over his kidneys and waited. We continued to dialogue as tightly held energy began to release and move. A question emerged, how had he kept himself small? Sam remembered going to a new school and stepping up to play a game at recess that he didn't know how to play. The ball hit him on the side of the face and he immediately felt shame and humiliation as the kids began to laugh. The teacher also chided him for stepping in to soon without knowing the rules. Sam realized that this experience set the template for how he viewed life. Only play the game when you know the rules. Step out when you have buddies that are already out there to be your allies. Always know the rules. As we continued to work, I reflected back to Sam his brilliance in figuring out how things worked and seeing patterns. Sam remembered that even though his parents couldn't reflect his brilliance back to him as child, he would find reflection in the books he read or in other ways in his environment. He also realized he wasn't comfortable stepping outside what he knew. Toward the end of the session, Sam's eyes began to itch. I asked him what would be the best thing to do. He said to take action and rub them. I asked him to wait and instead to bring his attention to his eyes and focus on the itchiness. After awhile he reported that while it was hard to put it words, something like lubrication had emerged from the back of his head and soothed his eyes.
Homework:
I suggested ordering the book, ‘Talks with Ramana Maharshi' On Realizing Abiding Peace and Happiness

Not Good Enough:
I have worked with many people holding this pattern. One woman was a professional dancer. Soma's inner critic was so highly developed that it extended into every area of her life. Her work wasn't good enough, her relationship wasn't good enough, and she wasn't good enough. She came to see me through a personal recommendation. We both sat down, on the floor, facing the same way. I placed my hand on her thoracic vertebras, about mid back, and waited. Soon she began to cry and then to sob. As the charge cleared, Soma began to have realizations. She thought she had to work hard and that she had to know. She began to laugh as she understood that she didn't have to work so hard. Her back continued to soften as the energy began to move through out her system.
Homework:
Place a bracelet around her wrist as a reminder that it is okay not to know and it is okay not to work so hard.
Protector:
Hanna, a young woman in her late twenties, came to see me with the presenting energy of feeling unsafe. As we began to dialogue she discovered she had resistance to understanding why she was feeling unsafe. I drew her attention to her resistance and encouraged her to stay with it, to keep her attention on it. I held focused attention on the energy as we began a dialogue with it. Hanna explored the possibility of allowing the energy to speak. She was then able to name the energy and work with it. During the session Hanna recognized that her resistance was really her protector energy. It was trying to keep her safe. Hanna chose to integrate her protector energy into her life by committing to working with it on a daily basis. As the session ended Hanna noticed she no longer felt unsafe.
Homework:
Committing and maintaining a practice to acknowledge and work with her protector energy on a daily basis.
Meditation
Environmentally Sensitive:
Tammy is a therapist that comes to see me with broad range of complaints. Underlying each complaint is the question of safety within her environment. During this session, Tammy complained of mental fuzziness and a lack of focus. She laid on the table as I worked on clearing the blocks from her energy fields. When I was six feet above her body she readily commented on her sensations and relief when the blocks were removed. I continued to work and encouraged her to notice how far from her body her awareness extended. When I finished clearing, Tammy noticed she felt much clearer.
Homework Suggestions:
To clear her home and work environment bi-weekly or as needed using the Epson salts and alcohol method.
To arrange her chair so she was not sitting directly in front of her clients, rather to a ninety degree angle.
To insure that she worked under natural lighting conditions as much as possible and to replace her florescent bulbs with full spectrum lighting.
Hyper-Vigilance:
Mindy, an energetic healer, came in presenting a complaint of extreme overwhelm and fatigue. I began chelation and noticed a hyper alert defense pattern, a very fatigued system and a buzzing sensation which seemed to come from her pituitary gland. As I continued to track, Mindy recalled scenes from her childhood and the feeling of always having to be on the lookout in case something went wrong. I continued to chelate and noticed the buzzing increasing as Mindy continued to explore memories from her childhood. Toward the end of the session Mindy was able to relate the buzzing to an incident involving her father. Her system relaxed somewhat allowing me to finish the chelation and fill.
Homework Suggestions:
Check in with her doctor regarding her fatigue and pituitary gland. Possibly check into vitamin and mineral supplements.
Create regular intervals of relaxation and unwinding time.
Pesticide Confusion:
Omar walked in to my office two years ago. He was suffering from depletion, exhaustion and confusion. Nothing in his life was going right. As I placed my hands on his heels, I noticed a strong odor of pesticides. I asked him if he worked with pesticides. He said no and lay quiet for some time while I continued to hold his heels. Eventually he began to share the story of his childhood. His stepfather was an exterminator and kept bags of bug powder in the garage. He and his brother made up a game where they used to jump up and down on the open bags to see the clouds of powder form in the air. They played this game for several years. I asked if he had ever told anyone. He said no as he had forgotten about it.
Homework:
I suggested Omar make an appointment with a local doctor and share the symptoms and story that he had shared with me.
Hospital Medicine:
Jeffrey had fallen into remission and was in the hospital awaiting the possibility of a bone marrow donor. I had my hand on his chest above his thymus as the nurse injected his medicine. It was a shock to feel how cold the medicine was and the thought arose that the medicine was poison. After the nurse left, I spoke to Jeffrey about his feelings about the medicine. He said some of his friends had called it ‘the poison'. I encouraged him to consider the medicine in a new way, perhaps as his helper. I offered a silent prayer over the bags of medicine draining into his chest and encouraged him to do the same.
Homework:
To consider his medicine as an ally and share the perception with his visitors.
If it felt right he could actively thank the medicine as he got injections and adjustments.
To listen to his naming song as often as he could to help him ground his experience. (Jeffrey was from another culture which at its roots valued the singing of the naming song at birth, during traumas and at death. The belief was that the song would support the spirit as it moved through its transitions.)
Dolphin Sonar:
Debbie, a woman in her late thirties, came in with the presenting complaint of over stimulation and fogginess. We began a series of exercises to determine her awareness of her energetic sensitivity. As we worked Debbie discovered that she could sense my presence across the room. With her eyes closed, she could tell where I moved in the room and when I moved. She was also able to distinguish what the different types of objects in the room were made of and the effect they had on her. Wood objects made her feel comfortable, metal objects did not. We discovered that she had a type of tracking sonar which allowed her to pick up information in her environment. As the session closed, Debbie reported feeling much clearer and excited to play with her newly conscious ‘dolphin sonar'.
Homework:
Continue to practice the awareness exercises we did in session.
Write a daily review of her day and notice if there were times she felt foggy. Reflect on the circumstances, notice where her attention was and the actions she engaged in. Using self reflection, Debbie could pursue a deeper understanding of her fogginess and check if there was any correlation to over stimulation and the way she was using her ‘dolphin sonar'.
Couples Energetic Communication:
A couple came in to see me as the means of last resort. They had been together for several years and were on the edge of breaking up. Both had high levels of charge in their systems. We began to explore personal comfort and safety through movement exercises.
The exercises always followed the same pattern. The movement exercise was explained, one person would explore, and then each would share their experience. The other person would then explore and each would share their experience. We rotated who went first in sharing their experience. In the initial exercise, a coin flip was used to determine who would explore first and all exercises rotated from there. During the session we explored questions of: Where do you feel most comfortable standing in relationship to your partner? How close do you like to be? What happens when your partner is the leader in the exercise? Does your experience change when you are the leader? Are you more comfortable holding hands or wrapping your arms around your partner's waist? What else would you prefer? We worked with noticing feelings and awareness's for the duration of the session. As the session came to a close, the charge had dissipated and the couple requested another session.
Homework:
Continue to practice the moving exercises, paying particular attention to any feelings that arise. Remember the intention and the pattern of the exercises. They are used for exploration and to deepen ones awareness's of oneself in relationship to another using a specific container.
Distance Healing:
One of my students and I performed a series of experiments to check the efficacy of long distance healing. Sandra would call me at my office at a prescribed time, do a quick check in and then hang up and lie down. I would “allow for” her energy system to appear on my table and would then chelate her system. As I worked I noted imbalances or blocks which I recorded after the session. The next day she would offer her observations while I compared them to my notes. We performed this experiment several times, each time drawing many of the same correlations. We then tried the same procedure but instead of laying down Sandra would meditate and I would begin work ten minutes after hanging up. This process seemed to noticeably weaken the correlations.
Post and Pre Operation:
I have worked with clients in both post and pre-operation situations. Although hard to gage the efficacy against traditional standards, my clients have reported varying results. One client who had sessions prior to and post liposuction reported having an easier time and faster recovery rates than her prior experience with no sessions. Another client reported feeling immediately clearer and more relaxed after having the amnesia ‘energy' chelated out of his system several hours after returning home from a hernia operation. Another woman who came to see me prior and post hysterectomy reported a gain in confidence in going into surgery and a gain of increased patience regarding her healing process after surgery.
Burns:
I worked with a young man two hours after he had burned the palms of both his hands by grabbing melting jumper cables. I did finger healing on each of his palms for roughly an hour each. As I finished, I noticed the swelling had gone down but the red lines still remained. I saw him the next day, he had no blisters where I worked, but had developed two blisters on two places that I had missed. A similar experience happened with a young woman who scalded her hand taking her lunch out of the microwave. Boiling water scalded the inside of her right hand and fingers. This time I saw her within ten minutes of the accident and again used finger healing to work on the area. The next day she came in to explain that within thirty minutes after our session, the pain had completely stopped and the only blister she got was a tiny one on her finger in a place that I hadn't worked.
Animals:
A good friend called and asked if I would work on her horses. I said I hadn't really worked on horses before, but she remained insistent, so I went out to see what I could do.
She had four horses, one of which had never gone on his left lead. I placed my hand on his shoulder and was immediately drawn to his head. I placed my hands on both sides of his head and felt an imbalance seemingly in his neurological system. I worked with him as long as he would let me, and noticed the imbalance didn't seem so pronounced. As I worked on the other horses I heard various statements and repeated them to my friend.I remember being surprised at how unique each horse was and at their strong personality demands and care requirements. Two weeks later my friend called to thank me for the work I had done and informed me her that horse was now able to go on his left lead.
Car Accident:
As I was sitting in my parked car waiting for my scheduled healing session I heard a loud bang and saw a car accident in my rear view mirror. I got to the scene just after the high school boys had climbed out of the cab of their upside down Toyota truck. I watched the boys for a while as the crowd of helpful onlookers surrounded them. Then I noticed one of the boys beginning to shake. I walked up to him and asked if he wanted me to put my hands on his shoulders. He said yes and I stayed in that position until the paramedics came. I left shortly afterwards and noticed I was beginning to shake and was feeling tremendous fear. I went to my healing session and explained what had happened to my healer. He explained that I had taken the boy's charge into my system but had not grounded it and released it. He then cleared the charge from my system as I released my past fear triggers.
